Wil has painted in a traditional vein all his life. He now paints exclusively on a computer. Dawson does not use photographs, but draws directly with a mouse or stylus. His primary concern is with color and composition. He has received several Best-of-Category awards, as well as a Best-of-the-Americas award in the Corel Corporation international competitions. In 2006 he received the Best-Artist-of-the-Year award from the Mansco Art Association in Europe.
